sometimes i hear over cubicals

conversation i heard this morning between a straight man and a woman, the man being socially inept. (note: i didn’t mix them up, this is how it was heard and is all true)

woman: “hey dave, how are you?”
man: “well, i’m at work, so…what do you think?”
woman: (in all seriousness) “oh, i really like your purse! where did you get it?”
man: “i got it at New York & Co.”
woman: “Really? I didn’t know they sold man purses there.”
man: “Well, I don’t think this is a man’s purse…but it looks like one, so i bought it.”
woman: (looking awkward at this point) “Oh, okay…so…so I’ll talk to you later”
