As I See It - 18 April 2006

After spending all last spring and summer with no results on social security, President Bush started this year’s spring training by talking up his health savings plan. He thinks consumers who spend their own money on medical care give themselves better protection. Carrying this one step further, maybe he can get residences of Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida to accept personal hurricane accounts also. Then again, there are unexplained leakers in Washington too.

Just when you thought a bad week was behind us with the DuBai ports deal, Abramoff setback, Delay quitting, and US debt ceiling jumping to nine trillion dollars, we had another unique week. Last week had everything: Prophet Mohammed’s birthday, Passover started, Easter (did I miss a religion?), last day to file federal taxes and retired Generals asking SecDef Rumsfeld to resign. What’s next . . . cattle and hogs getting the avian flu?
